Building Houses
This week in preschool we are learning all about "The Three Little Pigs". In talking about their houses, we tried making our own houses with marshmallows and toothpicks! The kids even tried blowing down the houses down, like the Big Bad Wolf!

Chocolate Haystacks
A memory of my childhood reminded me of this fun treat my mom made when we were kids!
Here's what you need: Milk chocolate chips, Chow-Mein Noodles, mini Marshmallows

Melt 1 bag of chocolate chips in a large bowl, then pour in a little over 1/2 bag of marshmallows and a little over 1/2 bag of chow mein noodles. You put in enough that the mallows and noodles are just covered with chocolate. Then place small dollops on wax paper and place in the fridge to let chocolate dry. Chocolate goodness!

Popcorn Pack-a-Snack
We made these fun and easy pack-a-snack mixes in Preschool this summer with the kids and they were a BIG hit! It's a great and easy idea for a take-along snack for a long summer drive, hike or just a yummy snack.
All you have to do is use fresh popped popcorn as a base and then throw in your child's favorite goodies (ie: chocolate chips, pretzels, m&m's, craisins, goldfish crackers, cap'n crunch cereal, etc.) mix and throw it in a bag to pack with you this summer.

Pilgrim Hats
What kids (and adults) wouldn't just love munching on a sweet little Pilgrim Hat after dinner this Thanksgiving. They're pretty easy and oh so cute!
Here's what you need:wax paper, large marshmallows, milk chocolate chips, fudge stripe cookies and yellow icing (I bought gel first and it didn't look as cute as the icing).
Here's what you do:
Lay out 24 cookies (stripes down) on waxed paper. Melt chocolate in microwave (I put it in a glass bowl on high in the microwave for 1 minute stir then 10 seconds and stir, 10 seconds and stir and continue until melted). Dip marshmallows with skewers and place one marshmallow on top of each cookie. Let cool/dry and decorate with yellow icing.

Easy Cheesie-Cakes

Here's what you need:Jell-o no bake cheesecake, muffin liners, (optional: pie filling)

Here's what you do:
Follow the directions to make the mini-cheesecakes on the back of the box. But if the instructions aren't there just follow the directions for the pie but place a tablespoon or so of the crust mix into each muffin cup liner and then add the cheesecake mix up to the top of the liner or almost to the top. Refrigerate to set. Each box makes about 30-35.
Alternate: I have seen a Wal-Mart off brand of no bake cheesecake that doesn't include a graham cracker crust. If you use this or have your own no bake recipe you'd like to use, then a super easy crust is to just pop a nilla wafer in the bottom of each muffin liner.

Mini Corndogs
also known as ... MUMMY FINGERS & TOES!
Here's what you need: little smokies and refrigerator crescent rolls.

Here's what you do:
Unwrap crescent rolls and pinch the triangles together. Cut in small strips and once lengthwise in half so you have many small strips of dough. Wrap the strips around the little smokies (or if you are making mummy fingers/toes wrap around one end). Place on a cookie sheet and bake according to directions on the crescent roll package.
Here's a recipe for an easy and yummy dipping sauce:
Mix equal parts chili sauce and grape jelly. Warm on stove top or in microwave.
*This is also a great sauce to pour over little smokies (plain), cook in a crock pot and eat with toothpicks.

Muffin Tin Mealtime

Check out this idea from makeandtakes.com and also tangledandtrue.com (thanks again Vanessa!)! So creative and so easy! Kids love things in 'mini' form and really seem to love things in order and their own special place so they're sure to love this idea. Just click on the picture or the website names to link to the original ideas.
