Painting with Sweetened Condensed Milk

Today we painted with some of the SWEETEST and yummiest tasting paint ever!

We poured a bit of Sweetened Condensed Milk into clean paint containers (you could use paper cups if you want), then we added food coloring to make each color of the rainbow and painted sweet rainbows!  The kids loved tasting the paint!  And it dries shiny and pretty -- but please note, it spoils since it has milk in it so you'll have to throw your cute painting away.  If you want to keep your project try Karo Syrup Paint found HERE!

St. Patrick's Day Fun!

We did some graphing with Lucky Charms on St. Patricks Day -- wanted to share! My graph is due for an update. I found an updated one HERE that is good, if you're interested!
Look what one little guy brought for breakfast on St. Patrick's Day! We thought it was the cutest thing ever! It's green applesauce and bread! Easy!!! (Thanks to Bugg's Mama!)

Taste a Rainbow

"Holy Time-Consuming Batman!!!" These take a lot of prep time but ... are totally worth it in the end! I made them for our preschool kids today and we let them frost the top with green frosting - it was so fun to see the kids eyes light up when they saw the rainbow!

The recipe:

*Prepare your favorite vanilla cake mix recipe (or box)

*Divide prepared cake mixture into 6 different bowls

*Use food coloring to color each bowl of prepared cake mixture

(red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple)

*Layer the prepared cake mixture one at a time in muffin lined tins

*Bake according to directions

*Frost with favorite frosting recipe

Rainbow Munchies

How easy and fun is this? Here's what you need: Froot Loops cereal (or any off brand) ;), picture of a Rainbow (I laminate mine so we can use them in preschool). But your child can draw a picture of a Rainbow as well to use!

Here's what you do: Give your child a cup of cereal and have them match the colors of the cereal to the rainbow. This yummy snack can help reinforce the following concepts: color matching, color naming, more, less, and most.

Spring Colors Popcorn

On St. Patrick's Day I had a great popcorn idea, but I messed it up so there I sat with a big bowl of popcorn and nothing fun to do with it. Then my mother (the best cook on earth) gave me this idea - turn the popcorn green and yummy ... and done within minutes!! It's a great spring treat and this sticky popcorn can even be turned into yummy popcorn balls!
Here's what you need: 1 cup sugar, 1 cup Karo, 1 small box Jell-o (any kind), microwave popcorn (popped/butter flavored)





Here's what you do:
Put sugar and Karo (corn syrup) in sauce pan and bring to a boil. Let it boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in 1 small box jell-o. Pour over popcorn and eat as is or mold into popcorn balls!

Sweet Shamrocks

Our reader Dawn (a super cool mommy) sent me this fun idea! Here's what she said about this snack: "I made this fun snack for our St. Paddy's Day Party last year. You roll refrigerated dough in cinnamon and twist them into shamrock shapes, bake, and sprinkle with green sprinkles. We served it with apple juice, "gold"fish and green grapes, it was perfect!" Lucky Leprechaun Pudding

What you'll need: Vanilla Pudding, Elf Fudge Cookies









Make the pudding according to the package and add green food coloring, place an elf cookie in the pudding (kids will love to dip the cookie in the pudding to eat it). Add green sugar sprinkles for a nice green touch!
*Fun idea: Make vanilla pudding with your child the night before St. Patrick's Day. Before they wake up, the tricky leprechaun might mess up the house, leave some chocolate gold coins and switch out the plain pudding for the green pudding. For preschool you could do this before they go outside to play for a bit.
